Hoffman introduces the Racing 40 Mechanical GCC Collection, a trio of limited-edition mechanical chronographs that nod to the brand’s early support from the GCC community. Following last year’s Pine GCC, the series adds three references – Dune GCC, Graphite GCC and Marine GCC – each limited to 200 numbered pieces.
The design language is consistent across the set: Eastern Arabic numerals on bezel, dial and sub-dials, a sapphire bezel with tachymeter, and a dual-layer grained dial with embossed concentric registers. An integrated vulcanised FKM rubber strap keeps things purposeful, with an additional black rubber strap included. Dune reflects desert heritage, Graphite looks to rising skylines, and Marine takes its cue from surrounding waters. No sand, steel or salt is included.
The 40 mm case is polished and brushed 316L stainless steel, capped by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and matched to a sapphire exhibition caseback. Inside is the manual-winding Seagull ST1901 chronograph movement, visible to the curious. The layout is classic: 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and running seconds at 9 o’clock. Water resistance is 10 ATM for everyday sense and the occasional spray.
In a market that often confuses excess with excellence, this reads as mechanical honesty at a measured scale. Eastern Arabic numerals feel considered rather than decorative, the hand-wind ritual suits the brief, and the 40 mm footprint keeps the proportions civil. Community tribute done with restraint beats a plaque on the case flank.
