NOMOS Glashütte adds a new proportion to a familiar friend with Club 38 and Club 38 ruthenium. At 38.5 millimeters across and 8.4 millimeters high, the watch lands in that sweet spot where presence meets comfort, a measured step up from the original 36.
The white silver-plated dial keeps things crisp and legible, with black numerals and red accents on hands and minute numerals. The ruthenium version leans sportier, its dark galvanized surface carrying white numerals and indexes outlined in yellow, with orange along the minute track. Both retain the wide bezel and bold typography that define Club.
Practicality holds its ground. Water resistance is rated to 10 atm, and luminous inlays on the broad hands aid dusk and dawn. The ruthenium model pairs with black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan, brown stitched. It is all very NOMOS: purposeful, unfussy, quietly confident.
Inside beats DUW 4001, a hand-wound caliber developed and built in Glashütte. You get up to 53 hours of running, the NOMOS swing system, and a textbook set of local traditions the three-quarter plate, Glashütte stopwork, temperature-blued screws, and fine finishing. Daily winding becomes habit rather than burden, a small ritual that connects hand to mechanism.
The change in size is more than arithmetic. It broadens the audience without diluting intent, keeping Club’s straight-talking design intact while improving wear for many wrists. If you want an honest mechanical watch to accompany real life rather than curate it, this feels like the right kind of refinement.
