Favre Leuba extends its 1966-inspired Harpoon Revival with two new sunray dials in black and blue, keeping the compact 36.8mm case, 10mm thickness, and the same mechanical core. The proposition is simple and tidy – color, not clutter – at CHF 1,800.
The Harpoon Revival Black leans classic. A rich black dial is matched to applied rhodium-plated markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova C1 X2 GL, so dusk does not mute the design. It arrives on a black leather strap with an easy-change system, the sort of small practicality that earns use.
The Blue brings a cooler voice. Its sunray surface plays with light, paired with a brown leather strap for contrast. The period geometry remains intact – those horizontal markers at 12, 6, and 9, and the stylized Harpoon signature – preserving the model’s mid-century cadence.
Under the dial, the FLD04 calibre, based on La Joux-Perret’s G100, runs at 28,800 vph with a 68-hour reserve. Sensible, modern, and appropriately quiet about it. No theatrics, just the kind of reliability that lets a design breathe.
“The Harpoon Revival allows us to revisit an important chapter in Favre Leuba’s history through a contemporary lens” said CEO Patrik Hoffmann. The point lands. These additions broaden character without upsetting proportions or purpose.
If the first grey set the brief, black and blue complete the opening trio. The watch remains compact, legible, and mechanically honest – a daily companion that nods to 1966 without pretending it is still there.
