Marking a decade of nO-Ring® and thirteen years of Mauron Musy, the MU05 nO-Ring Origin Anniversary Edition circles back to the brand’s first idea – a watch sealed by geometry, not rubber. It is a tribute to the moment before certainty, when calculations still argued with doubt.
nO-Ring® replaces consumable gaskets with direct mechanical sealing. Case, bezel, back, and sapphire meet through controlled geometry, extreme flatness, and tight tolerances to secure 300 m water resistance – no gasket anywhere. It is engineering, not ritual, and it remains the brand’s central thesis.
The dial carries fragments of Christophe Musy‘s original handwritten calculations – not cleaned up, not prettified. You are not meant to read them so much as feel the mind at work. Each watch lifts a different sliver of that notebook, the line of thought running off the edge and continuing onto the laser-engraved strap.
Inside is the MM01-SK – Mauron Musy’s first exclusive calibre – designed, manufactured, and assembled in Switzerland. Openworked by intention, it shows the escapement, barrel, and going train while keeping legibility. Specs are classical and honest: automatic, 4 Hz, 55-hour reserve, small seconds at 9, with snailed and microblasted bridges, diamond-polished angles, rhodium-satin wheels, polished screw heads, and a snailed tungsten mass. Both sides are sapphire, because if you finish it, you should let it be seen.
The MU05-111 arrives first: Grade 5 titanium, 44 mm by 13 mm, alternating satin and polish, skeletonised and lumed sword hands, red-gold-toned dial accents, and the brand’s nO-Ring® sealing to 300 m. The case is a 29-component construction – a reminder that precision is a sum of small obediences. A second execution, MU05-112, follows with different colors and finishing. Each run counts thirteen pieces, and each dial fragment is unique. There will be no repeats.
True to the house’s Swiss Crafted standard, development, manufacturing, and assembly occur within roughly sixty kilometres of Saint-Aubin. Proximity keeps questions short and tolerances honest. Included is an artwork made solely for this anniversary – better discovered than described.
Price is CHF34,000 and the warranty runs five years. For twenty-six collectors, this is not a souvenir of success but the work-in-progress itself – the refusal to accept the easy answer, carried on the wrist.
