Independent Swiss watchmaker Mauron Musy has secured a strategic equity investment from FundTime LLC, which will also become the brand’s exclusive distributor in the United States. It is a pragmatic move for a small manufacture that builds slowly and prefers engineering to fanfare.
Founded in 2013 by Eric Mauron and Christophe Musy in the Broye Valley, the company is best known for its patented nO-Ring® system – a fully mechanical, gasket-free water-resistance architecture that the brand describes as the only one of its kind. The case design follows this logic, and production remains deliberately tight at around 300 pieces per year. The watches carry the Swiss Crafted label, certifying that 100% of each watch is designed, developed, and manufactured in Switzerland.
Christophe Musy frames the partnership as an extension of the brand’s habit of questioning received wisdom. FundTime’s Lior Arussy, for his part, cites independence and technical honesty as the attraction. In short: less gasket, more gusto.
For an indie, America can be both opportunity and labyrinth. An aligned investor-distributor can shorten the path between bench and wrist, provided aftersales, education, and inventory cadence keep pace. Mauron Musy’s coherence-first philosophy will be tested not by volume, but by consistency when interest rises.
What to watch next: how the U.S. network is structured, whether lead times stay reasonable at 300 pieces a year, and how the brand communicates a mechanical water-resistance system that upends the usual gasket story. If the message lands, the appeal should be clear to collectors who prize purposeful engineering over ornament.
