ArtyA Complexity Double Conillon 12H-6H - A Twin Inclined Tourbillon Debut

ArtyA unveils the Complexity at Watches & Wonders 2026, a world premiere limited to 9 pieces. Two inclined tourbillons set at 12H and 6H work through a differential inside a fully transparent sapphire case or a deep red synthetic ruby case. It is an unabashed mechanical statement, but one with purpose.

The inclined tourbillon, or Conillon, differs from Breguet tradition. Here the balance axis traces a cone rather than a cylinder, extending gravitational compensation across multiple vertical positions. ArtyA doubles down by pairing two inclined regulators on opposing axes, with no parallel lines between balance, cage, or pallet fork. The goal is stability in any orientation, not theatre for its own sake, though the theatre is excellent.

The differential is the keystone. It splits barrel torque evenly so both cages receive identical energy, then averages their rate behavior to smooth residual errors. Each Conillon turns in 30 seconds, with offbeat directions creating a kaleidoscopic cadence you can feel even when you pretend not to stare.

Developed with Purtec Sàrl in Vallorbe, the hand-wound calibre counts 287 components and 44 jewels, beats at 3 Hz, and stores 50 hours of power. The movement is notably robust, with architecture conceived to improve shock resistance compared with multi-axis showpieces such as a gyro-tourbillon. Finishing is modern and clean: fine sandblasting throughout, hand-polished bevelling, etched cabron flanks at 3H and 9H, laser engravings darkened in matte black.

The case is a study in hard crystal and soft curves. Dimensions are 42 by 48 by 13 mm, with a triple-concave middle and two optical domes that act like built-in loupes over each tourbillon. Machining and polishing synthetic sapphire or ruby to this complexity demand long hours and careful restraint. The faceted crown, cut from the same crystal, keeps the language consistent.

Two dial personalities frame the spectacle. Griffe uses a rhodium black treatment with point-cloud engraving that throws light in every direction, indices mirror polished for contrast. Matte opts for uniform shot blasting and a quiet, mineral calm. Both are offered in Anthracite or Silver, paired to either transparent sapphire or Pigeon’s Blood Ruby cases, each on an integrated rubber strap.

Pricing is CHF 190,000 in sapphire and CHF 220,000 in ruby. Only nine will be made. The watch rewards those who value construction over noise. Two inclined tourbillons, one disciplined differential, and a case that refuses to hide the work. Mechanical honesty, rendered transparent.
