Moser Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Ceramic Alpine – Form Meets Material

H. Moser & Cie. and Alpine Motorsports move their collaboration into the realm of matter with the Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Ceramic Alpine Limited Edition. The watch keeps the mechanics wide open yet changes the stage – an anthracite grey ceramic case that sharpens light, shadow and intent.

The 40 mm case in ceramic alternates polished and satin surfaces, topped by a slightly domed sapphire crystal and paired with a see-through back. Ceramic here is the quiet protagonist – almost scratch resistant, unalterable, hypoallergenic and lightweight. It does not patinate, it simply endures. A screw-in crown carries an engraved “M”, water resistance is 12 ATM, and an integrated blue Alcantara strap closes the loop.

Inside, the self-winding HMC 814 Manufacture calibre is entirely skeletonised. Bridges and main plate wear a blue finish in the Alpine spirit, echoed by the skeletonised oscillating weight and an openworked barrel. Power reserve is a stated minimum of 72 hours. Winding is via an automatic bi-directional pawl system – efficient, tidy, and appropriate for a watch built around visible motion.

At 6 o’clock, a one-minute flying tourbillon with an original double hairspring, designed and produced by Precision Engineering AG, appears to float. The twin spring geometry improves precision and isochronism by compensating for centre-of-gravity shifts during expansion. The tourbillon bridge is skeletonised and finished in blue, with diamond bevelling adding a discreet flash along the edges.

Legibility is handled by indices and hand inserts in Globolight® – a ceramic-based material combined with Super-LumiNova® – which suits the stripped architecture without shouting. Hours and minutes are the only functions, a choice that fits Moser’s declared minimalism: remove clutter so the construction can speak.

This limited edition counts 100 pieces, reference 6814-2100. Dimensions are 40.0 mm in diameter and 11.0 mm in height without the crystal, 12.8 mm with. The movement measures 32.0 mm in diameter and 5.5 mm in height, runs at 21,600 vph, with 28 jewels and 167 components. It is an object shaped by flow – the Streamliner line as muse, ceramic as chisel.
