NOMOS Ahoi neomatik Sky and Sand - summer hues, serious watchmaking

NOMOS Glashütte extends its Ahoi line with two compact sports watches, Ahoi neomatik sky and sand, pairing beach-ready color with sober engineering. The dials lean lighthearted – sky in serene blue, sand in a warm golden tone – yet the intent is practical: clear legibility, a touch of orange on the seconds hand, and green lume where it counts.

The stainless steel cases measure 36.3 millimeters across and just 9.1 millimeters high, a profile more typical of a dress piece than a 200-meter watch. Six screws secure the solid back, where a whale engraving quietly signals the depth rating. The crown is screw-down with guards and a red warning ring that reminds you to give it another turn before the swim. A curved sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on both sides, keeps glare at bay.

Inside beats DUW 3001, the brand’s ultra-thin automatic caliber at 3.2 millimeters. It brings the in-house NOMOS swing system and DUW regulation, adjusted in six positions. In short, the slimness up top exists because the movement beneath is thoughtfully restrained.

On the wrist, the mid-sized diameter broadens the audience without diluting the character. The color accents read sporty but never shouty, and the case height slips under a cuff as easily as it slips into the sea. It is the NOMOS approach to a sports watch: robust where necessary, refined everywhere else.

Details worth noting: 20 atm water resistance, a crown you can trust, and lume that respects the dial’s calm. Sky and sand feel seasonal, yes, but the fundamentals are perennial. Ahoi by name, everyday by nature.
