Ressence widens the palette of its TYPE 7 with two new colourways, “Black” and “Cactus”, each delivered with a complementary rubber strap. It is a quiet expansion that suits the watch’s brief as a versatile tool for city streets and open water alike.
Both versions share a fixed ceramic bezel for a deep, lasting finish and added structural integrity. The case remains Grade 5 titanium at 41mm with an integrated titanium bracelet, while water resistance holds at 5 ATM. The signature oil-filled dial is present and accounted for, delivering that remarkable dial-plane effect Ressence is known for.
Functionally, the TYPE 7 offers hours, minutes, seconds, a second time zone, and a 120-second runner, along with oil temperature indication and shock protection. The display is driven by the patented ROCS 7 module, itself powered by the minute axle of a customised calibre. Transmission from the air-filled movement to the oil-filled dial is magnetic, with compensating bellows keeping the system in equilibrium. It is self-winding, as a tool watch ought to be.
Winding and setting are handled at the back with the Ressence Compression Lock System. On the wrist, the full titanium build keeps mass down to 123 grams. The bracelet measures 24/20mm, and leather or rubber straps are available if you prefer a simpler silhouette.
Originally offered in Night Blue and in a limited XV Aquamarine, the TYPE 7 now adds the stoic Black and the fresher Cactus. As Benoît Mintiens puts it, “For a tool watch, functionality and legibility are everything… What better contrast than bright white over deep black?” The thought tracks. Clarity first, drama second.
Key numbers for the meticulous: 391 components, 5 ATM, ROCS 7, CHF 36,000 excluding taxes. Availability begins May 2026 through selected retailers and the Ressence e-shop.
The idea is simple and sound. Keep the architecture, refine the tone. In watchmaking, restraint is often the most modern choice.
