Greubel Forsey draws the curtain on the Balancier Convexe S² with two final editions – one in black ceramic with 5N red gold accents, the other in white ceramic – each limited to 11 pieces and signaling the end of this calibre in 2026.
From the outset, S² was conceived as a single object where case and movement share one spine. The Convexe case follows the wrist, not fashion, letting the three dimensional construction breathe and stay legible. The case does not merely protect the calibre – it extends it.
At the heart sits the 30° inclined balance, the visual and chronometric axis around which everything is arranged. The movement totals 301 components, including a 68 part escapement platform. Two fast rotating coaxial barrels deliver a 72 hour chronometric reserve. The in house variable inertia balance, with six gold mean time screws, runs at 21,600 vph.
Finishing remains character, not garnish. Titanium bridges and main plate are frosted, with polished bevels, sharp countersinks and controlled transitions. Even the hidden is treated as visible – integrity first, spectacle second.
The black ceramic and 5N red gold edition plays with contrast and depth. Black treated components and ceramic surfaces frame the architecture, while red gold adds warmth and weight. Matte against polish underscores the relief of the Convexe form. The white ceramic edition takes the inverse route – light, graphic, and precise – letting structure speak through shadow and reflection.
Functionally, S² stays clear headed: hours and minutes on a suspended arch bridge, small seconds, and a sector power reserve. Curved sapphire, a sculpted bezel, and profiled lugs keep the line continuous from movement to wrist, maintaining presence without burden.
These two references conclude a five year exploration of the S² architecture. With their release, production ends by design, not attrition. 2026 also begins a measured transition toward an almost entirely new collection, with each retiring calibre given a deliberate final word.
