Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Ruby – stone and symmetry

Armin Strom’s latest Mirrored Force Resonance arrives with a dial hewn from natural ruby – a living stone over a living mechanism. It is a poetic collision of mineral warmth and mechanical order.

Each dial is cut from genuine ruby, its inclusions and tonal shifts left intact as proof of nature’s authorship. No two are alike. The ruby’s quiet glow plays against the architectural symmetry of the resonance display, bringing a measured drama rather than spectacle.

The 43 mm stainless steel case keeps the stage discreet. A grey Alcantara strap with white stitching and white printed Roman numerals gives the composition a classical cadence amid contemporary structure.

Inside beats the manual-winding manufacture Calibre ARF21, designed, developed and produced in-house in Biel/Bienne. Its patented Resonance Clutch links two independent regulating systems so the twin balances seek harmony, improving chronometric stability over time. A pusher at 2 o’clock resets both seconds counters at once – a neat, visible proof that the idea is not just theory.

The cadence is set at 3.5 Hz, or 25,200 vph, with a 48-hour power reserve. It is a modern expression of an old principle, executed with the brand’s characteristic mechanical honesty.

Finishing is suitably considered: hand-polished bevels, black-polished screws, perlage and circular graining, with Geneva stripes on the reverse for depth and contrast. As ever, Armin Strom assembles each watch twice, a disciplined ritual that shows in the edges and the calm of the motion.

The ruby is not a gimmick. Synthetic ruby has long reduced friction inside movements; here, natural ruby steps onto the dial to echo that lineage with color and character. It feels apt that a watch about resonance would pair engineered precision with a stone formed over millions of years.

Edition size is five pieces. A small chorus, perfectly in tune.
