H. Moser & Cie. and Saquon Barkley meet on common ground where discipline, humility, and a taste for understatement rule. The result is the Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Aventurine Saquon Barkley, a steel limited edition of 97 that favors substance over swagger.
The 42.8 mm case keeps the Pioneer line’s sporting backbone, with 120 m water resistance and a white rubber strap that treats formality as optional. It feels built for the day to day, then surprisingly at ease in evening light.
The fully open architecture exposes the mechanics, while a domed aventurine subdial hovers above like a calm night sky. After dark, all indices glow in Super-LumiNova, with the numerals 2 and 6 in a different hue – a discreet nod to Barkley’s number 26 that appears only when the lights go down.
Inside is the HMC 811 automatic three-dimensional calibre, anchored by a one-minute flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock and a cylindrical hairspring handcrafted by Precision Engineering AG. Power reserve is a stated minimum 74 hours, wound by a bi-directional pawl system and a gold, fully skeletonised rotor.
The movement decor is measured and modern: main plate and bridges in anthracite PVD, diamond bevelling, and a hand-bevelled balance bridge. The execution reads as craft first, spectacle second – exactly the point.
This edition is personal without shouting. The number of pieces honors Barkley’s birth year, the lume detail tips the hat to his jersey, and the watch itself balances strength with refinement. It is playful in the right places and serious where it counts.
In short, a Pioneer made to be worn anywhere: training, travel, dinner, even a red carpet if one must. The watch does not chase attention. It earns it.
