Bianchet brings a cool spark to WatchTime New York with the Rotondo UltraFino Diamond, a white-gold baguette-set bezel wrapped around an ultra-thin Grade 5 titanium flying tourbillon that takes 5,000 G on the chin and swims to 10 ATM. A circle of light over serious hardware.
The idea is deliberate contrast. Case, integrated bracelet and movement are cut from Grade 5 titanium for lightness and resilience. The bezel shifts register to white gold and 40 baguette-cut natural diamonds, turning the round profile into a precise luminous ring without drowning the mechanics beneath.
A white rubber seam under the bezel mediates metal and stone, echoing the optional white rubber strap. On the bracelet the watch reads architectural and taut. On rubber it brightens, almost nonchalant. Same heart, different accent.
The numbers matter. Diameter 39.5 mm, profile 8.9 mm, water resistance 10 ATM, shock resistance up to 5,000 G. The UR01 automatic flying tourbillon, developed and assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, is 3.85 mm thin with 225 components. Main plate, bridges and cage are titanium. There is a 60-hour reserve and a solid 18K rose-gold rotor that adds a quiet warmth to the palette.
The architecture hews to the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci geometry, ideas Bianchet returns to with conviction. Hand finishing is not sketched in. Expect more than 30 hours of bevelling on the bridges alone, with openworking that keeps structure honest and sightlines clear.
The gem setting is disciplined rather than showy. Forty baguettes, color F-G and clarity VVS, total 1.6 ct, are aligned longitudinally to respect the bezel’s curve. White gold stays discreet so the stones read as cadence, not confetti.
Price is 92 500 CHF before taxes. That places the Rotondo UltraFino Diamond among the rare tourbillons that treat diamonds as architecture and performance as non-negotiable. Precious without fragility, elegant without flattery. The kind of watch that smiles at the gym and the gala, then keeps better time than the conversation.
