M.A.D.2 R&B and REDemption - red and black with purpose

M.A.D.Editions adds two red-black riffs to the M.A.D.2 line – R&B and REDemption – keeping the playful spirit alive while tightening the brief.

First launched last year with a nod to 1990s club culture, the M.A.D.2 borrows from vinyl and turntables. Eric Giroud’s touch is clear. The new pair simply flips the palette. R&B brings a midnight-black dial plate and strap with red hour and minute discs. REDemption inverts it – bright red dial plate with black discs – and adds a wink on the rotor: “They say I’m stubborn, I’d say persistent“.

Access follows two paths. R&B is offered via the now-familiar raffle. Registration runs April 14 to April 20, with a random draw conducted under a bailiff’s supervision. REDemption skips chance entirely, reserved for fans who entered at least four past raffles without a win. They will be contacted directly and can purchase without another draw. Fairness, with a memory.

The case stays at 42 mm in stainless steel and sapphire, a rounded pebble with central metal time markers. Inside, the bi-directional jumping-hour module developed by the MB&F team sits over a Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 beating at 4 Hz with 64 hours of power reserve. It is an honest recipe – proven base, clever display – that suits the watch’s club-born character.

Retail is CHF 2,900 + VAT for either edition.

Opinion, briefly: the colors are loud, the construction is not. That balance is the point. A watch you can enjoy without pretending it is grander than it is – and one that remembers who queued in the rain.
