Kerbedanz Maxima GR8 39mm in Black and White Ceramic

Kerbedanz unveils two Maxima GR8 39mm editions in high-performance ceramic, one in deep black and one in luminous white, each built around a central flying tourbillon. The concept is simple and effective – contrast as balance, mechanics as the quiet center.

The pair leans on Yin and Yang imagery without theatrics. The one-minute tourbillon rotates at the dial’s heart, a moving fulcrum between shadow and light. Black reads as discreet strength, white as clarity. Both let the engine do the speaking.

Ceramic brings tangible gains – hardness, scratch resistance, and lightness. The black case wears a stealth-like matte character, the white case a crisp modern polish. Surfaces are carefully finished to underline the Maxima GR8’s architectural form rather than distract from it.

This follows earlier monocrystalline sapphire iterations, trading transparency for a more graphic presence. As CEO Vahé Vartzbed puts it, “With these two new Maxima GR8 39mm editions, we wanted to express balance through contrast, shadow and light, strength and elegance. The central tourbillon becomes the living symbol of this harmony, constantly in motion, uniting both worlds.” The message lands because the mechanics back it up.

Each version is limited to 28 pieces worldwide. Sensibly scarce, not performatively rare. If the black is night and the white is day, the tourbillon is the steady weather between them. I would pick one – my wrist prefers decisions – but the idea works best as a dialogue.
